Today's poem is by Kathryn Smith

Beast Body

I made my skin of leaves. Clean ones.
My sister, she skinned herself down
to the beast body, the wolf tree, the we
who can do no wrong in the eyes of our
Lord. We are cedar children crossing
a frozen river. We know how to survive.
It's easy as dreaming, easy as fear when
you face the beast you are.
