Today's poem is by Scot Siegel

Santa Cruz Carney Girl

I am not a stereotype
I do not even own a stereo!
My iPod is stuck on public radio
It replays the podcast on women's
liberation, over and over; I can't quite

Figure it out—I think I might be a lesbian
Does any of this make sense?
I'd like your opinion. Come here
before they open the gates,
before the freaks flood the place

With their desperate wives
and overweight children—
Come! before I become
invisible again, part of the
machinery.
