Today's poem is by Jaimee Kuperman

After The Music Went Home

It's nice to think that somewhere the winters are returning.
I spent the night walking a blind man around a food court
and talk was all there was, the small of my back,
his hand feeling for mine.

But after the music went home,
all the visitors jumping back into their birthdays,
the swimmers coming home from the pond,
I have conversations I add on to, rewrite, people I run into,
saying this is how it would have ended
if only we had continued.
