Today's poem is by Lisa Ashley

Refuge
        for the children of Ukraine

On the deck this morning a baby rabbit—
as if parachuted into an Easter egg hunt.

Its cottontail points up as it dips over the edge
seeking a way off the barren wooden plain,

escape from hang-gliding eagles,
stalking coyotes and feral cats.

It dashes side to side,
zigzags in abrupt reversals

as if it, too, can't find its way home.
