Today's poem is by Donna Hilbert

Grace
after Ellen Rowland's No Small Thing

It's no small grace
preparing the coffee pot,
then stepping out
in morning dark

to stand beneath a palm,
and listen
to osprey's
high-pitched song,

and return in rising sun
to coffee, hot, to fill
the waiting cup, and drink.

No small grace
to brace ones' self
with simple pleasure

before the day goes wrong.
