Pigeon in the Silo

I bring news
coos, coos the pigeon.

I bring strange things
The silo rings, rings.

Of a world beyond
the great pond.

Of human laws
and wars, wars.

Of pious people
in a church steeple.

I bring warning
this morning

to bruit in the bright air:
Beware! Beware!

I bring news!
The pigeon coos, coos.
