Charles Martin is the author of four books of poems, the most recent of which, Starting from Sleep: New and Selected Poems, appeared earlier this year from the Sewanee Writers' Conference/Overlook Press. His new verse translation of the Metamorphoses of Ovid will be published in the fall of 2003 by W. W. Norton.
