Today's poem is by Robin Chapman

We hope we've come to the end

of time shut in, and think back—
what did we do with ourselves
in plague time? When Newton
passed his time in isolation
he wrote Principia, and Shakespeare
lived to practice rhetoric because
his family shut themselves in,
but we've made no discoveries
of laws of motion nor written
plays to live through the ages.
We survived, and investigated
garden seeds, and fed the birds,
lived vicariously in their delights,
walked single file through woods
first bare, then green, then yellow,
then bare again, with a line of friends,
watching for bluebird flocks.
