Today's poem is by Lorna Wood

Sleep

Here we are, two mammals in our nest,
weaving a net over ourselves with our breathing,

meanwhile embarking in our separate coracles
to navigate the channels of the night.

I'm not trying to get to rehearsal on time anymore—
you're not a starship captain.

Mostly, we travel, separately,
focusing on the journey,
which seldom reaches an end—

waking to a world spinning on a cliff's edge,
not sure whether we will learn to fly
                                                          as we
                                                                    fall
