Invective against Swans

Where we once raised our voices against a war,
where children—the dukes of ducks and queens
of butterflies—once slept on blankets stuck
like stamps on an envelope of lawn,
we welcome back all the old Lohengrins

who go down to the sea in Swan Boats,
catamarans in diarrheal water, itching for a fight.
There's still time, boys: take the Green Line.
Plenty of souls to save and wrongs to right
and grails on sale at Crate & Barrel.
