Today's poem is by Wayne Miller

Hospital

All the people with their narratives
tucked inside them

like glimpsing out an airplane window

other planes flying

———

I walked the grounds

noting the transitions from grass to concrete
to grass again

I went to the cafeteria

———

I was still inside my body
with its hunger

———

I couldn't decide
if they had turned off a light

inside you

or turned you off
inside the light

———

My mind was just starting to make
the incision

of these words

———

When the text came

I climbed the stairs to find you
inside your body

where you still are
