Today's poem is by Maureen Seaton

Postcard from Old Hollywood Beach

My gallow's-humor grandmother and my Scorpionic ex-boyfriend stand side by side at the foot of my bed. They may be standing years apart and only appear as if together, but no matter, the effect is simultaneous. They're both happy to see me, both offering what looks like encouragement to join them. Sure, I tell them, someday, maybe. Glad you're friends, though, glad you've got my back, I add, but there's more, I can feel it. Wish you were here, they finally say, and the heft of their longing carries them out to sea.
