Today's poem is by Lois Marie Harrod

Ought So like Naught

the brother who does not visit
the sister who can't forgive.

We watch the green fuse
force the forsythia and fade.

We love or try to love —
husband the wife

child the kale —
but so often Obligation

spits Kindness into a napkin
shoves Charity to the edge of the plate.
