Of Truth and Other Fabrications

Of all those old truths now no longer true,
the truth that the truth's the truth is the one
I miss most. Knowing that what's in plain view
is just that—plain, true, not some dull troll's fun
with spongy, truant minds? Those were the days.
He says, I'm not even sure that's my voice,
a year after admission. Then he says,
I would release them, but I have no choice.
His goons say, Stars and bars are innocent,
and that sign's just "okay." And have no fears,
the bug's a hoax. Don't hide behind a mask.

Some hear what's said while others hear what's meant.
The truth is dead. It's been dying for years.
And death's still death, no matter who you ask.
