Today's poem is by Eric Nelson

Aubade with Bear

As reluctant as I to leave, night leaves
behind a remnant, a black bear

hugging the shoulder of our street, plodding
toward the woods beyond the creek—

each cooling streetlight it passes
flashing briefly bright again.
