D. Nurkse D. Nurkse is the author of ten collections of poetry. The most recent is a chapbook, Time on the Move, 2020 and Tony's Blues (bilingual — French & English) 2020. It's About Time, is forthcoming from NYQ Books, 2021 Drastic Dislocations: New and Selected Poems [New York Quarterly Books, 2012]. His poetry has appeared in over 100 journals, including Ploughshares, The Nation, Centennial Review, and American Poetry Review. His study of poetic revision, Visions & Revisions: The Poets' Practice [T.Y. Crowell, 1971], was reissued in a new and expanded edition by Broadview Press [2002]. A special interest is his presentation of poetry readings in collaboration with jazz. He has made eight recordings of his poetry with jazz, the most recent being titled Lisbon Sunset, (2016) and What Was, Was. Barry is Emeritus Professor of Literature and Creative Writing at the City University of New York and a poetry editor of the journal, American Book Review. In 1972, he founded the Annual Spring Poetry Festival, the Poetry Outreach Center and the city-wide High School Poetry Contest. He remains an active advisor and participant in this program.
