Today's poem is by Lola Haskins

On Reason

Then, I shunned
philosophies because
there was always a reason
a reason each of them
could not be true.

I thought not-knowing
was ugly. I wanted
a system like a marriage
that would stand by me
because it promised.

But now, I want
something else.
Give me a mist whose
approaching figures
could be anything.
Give me a lover like a star.
