Today's poem is by Chet'la Sebree

Knowlege

In Spanish, I love the inversion at the beginning
of sentences of interrogation or exclamation.

I know where I'm going, am satisfied
when the world's inquiries are presented upside-down,
so that I am certain uncertainty awaits me.

No one ever told me my life would lack such clarity—
a river of unknowns I should have known to anticipate.

There is to know and to know—conocer and saber
subtler a difference than biblical knowledge
and knowing someone biblically. In my twenties,

I'm still not sure I know the difference,
am worried I know all the wrong things, am scared
these philosophical concentric circles will make me sick,

teach me nothing.
