Today's poem is by Sharon Charde

Hungry Ghost

I know her well, the never-enough
girl, pushing her pinhole mouth
out for more, body a rental space
for the blizzard of yearning
she drags around daily. Longing
for what was not had felt so right,
appetite she could not step back
from. I wanted to tell you the tenant
was evicted but just now Susie took
my picture and I hunger to scrape
the flesh from my chin, the spots
from my cheeks, thin out my legs,
re-do my hair. I really do look as old
as I am. This morning I told Rikki
that all I wanted was to be whole,
but now I'm ready to rush out
to Gap for a new jacket, Godiva
for more dark chocolate.
