Today's poem is by Djelloul Marbrook

Build a cello

Build a cello in which to live,
an instrument whose harmonics
make you a hymn to guardians,
forty thousand of them yearning
for your ear after millennia
of ancestral meddling—pillagers

messing with you in bed,
rearranging the furnishings
of your head to mislead you
in your mistakes.And then,
praying with sharpened stone,
a shaman to yourself, you cut

the milky way connecting you
to your delusions and bow
the strings of your new dwelling
across the bridges of the mind
as if you were born deserving it
and the world had sung alleluia.
