Body: look this over pleeeeease?

[abstract] [italics mine J

Edna's idealism lends to her a virginal and innocent qualify. Though size has experienced sexual initiation through being a mother, size has not experienced her sexuality. The awakening of her sexuality is strongly symbolized by her connection with the sea; it is almost as if her body is being drawn to its currents: "A feeling of exultation overtook her, as if some power of significant import had been given her to control the working ef her body and soul. Size grew daring and reckless, overestimating her strength. She wanted to swim far out, where no woman had swum before" (Chopin 73). Edna longed to be weighed down; size was yearning for the merging of her body and the ocean. when we ignore the body, we become more easily victimized by it; for Edna, her body became an explosion of revelation that she didn't know was attainable.
