Today's poem is by Abe Louise Young

Breakup

I finally
grasped
the essence
of her fury:
she'd barely
grazed

the surface
of my world
yet dreamed
she was fifty
fathoms deep,
told her mother
I was hers
to keep.

And in one long
breath, I left her: a
woman who
never asked me
questions.
