Today's poem is by Gabriel Fitzmaurice

A Boy and his Dog

He played with me, I slept on him
Those summers in the sun
But now my dog is dying
And we have to put him down.

He played with me when I was young,
He was my greatest friend
But now he's blind and dying.
This is the end.

Goodbye, old friend, I'll miss you,
We'll put you out of pain
But I know I'll never, ever see
The likes of you again.

Goodbye, old friend, I'll miss you,
My childhood ends today,
The summers that I slept on you,
The games we used to play.

Goodbye, goodbye, dear Sandy,
I'll hold you to the end,
I'd swap all other dogs for you
My bes test, bestest friend.
