Today's poem is by Kallie Falandays

[It's scary: when I met myself]

It's scary: when I met myself
I was a worry doll,
a tiny tremor, a teacup shaking

until it rains and every thunder
sounds like a winter train:

the water brings up everything
that doesn't have roots and leaves

it all on the floor. See? After
we discover our littleness

we become many different kinds
of hurt.
