Today's poem is by Allison Seay
Room of Resignation
I did something she could not forgive.
She did not have enough pity, not even for the sick,
not when I made the bridge inside me collapse.
As I lay at the bottom of the earth, I was worked on
by strangers until I returned.
She was not there though I thought only of her,
of Liliana and her paint brushes as they entered a glass
of rose water to rinse. A harmless gesture,
one I could have made. But the world is for some
a body of water, the surface a membrane to pierce
