Today's poem is by Matthew Thorburn

Hokkaido Photo

Me, I'm the square silver camera
that takes all this in. Too lazy
to keep my one eye open.
Look, it's getting late. An owl like a lighthouse
turns its head all the way around.
Now it's later. A grizzled dusk struck—
no, stuck—down in the bent reeds,
the broken bracken. What we see in the distance
is the distance. Then so late
even the snow falls asleep.
