Today's poem is by Alec Hershman

Breather

Respite is the cream of labor.

While you were busy. While you were busy.
Filament—that's the distance

from which I could just think of a cigarette
and feel my lips pearl.

It's also the way I've tethered the boats,
a look as quick as spider-web,

scalp-harbor sinking beneath a bed-sheet.
And all the calendar faces

of the ones I am to love
are nodding in the bay like balloons.
