Travis Nichols lives in Chicago where he works as an editor at the Poetry Foundation. A graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, he has worked as a film projectionist, bookseller, dishwasher, teacher, estate sales consultant, movie critic, and freelance journalist. In 2006, he traveled around the country on the Wave Books Poetry Bus tour reading with hundreds of poets to audiences at over fifty different venues, including bars, bookstores, cafes, museums, the Space Needle and a meteor crater. His journalism has appeared in The Village Voice, The Believer, Poets & Writers, Paste, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and The Stranger, among other places. He’s currently a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and runs the online journal Weird Deer. His first book of poems, Iowa, came out in 2009 on Letter Machine Editions, and his first novel, Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder, was published this spring by Coffee House Press.
