Today's poem is by H. Palmer Hall

Aubade

Listen, I've never really understood
why you did that. Why just at the start
of the morning, the stars having only just
faded away, you went out naked in the woods.

When you opened the tent, I heard the wind
whisper and the soft sound of your footstep,
a bird sang in the dew wet grass. I suppose
some secret you keep from our marriage.

Listen, your skin felt so soft, so warm
when you came back, when you slipped
softly down and wrapped yourself
around me, dawn woke again in me.
