Today's poem is by Janice Fitzpatrick Simmons

All Souls' Day

Lost on roads not known
I crossed the bridge at The Hill of Down
and wept for us. I calmed myself
with a cup of coffee in the pub that to my suprise
banked the Royal Canal where we docked
the canal boat last spring. I hold on to the familiar
as swans float by, their reflection bright on the dark surface.
My mind brims with this flood water:

the sun on the deck of an Easter boat,
the walk up Abbey steps on Mont St. Michel,
the carved ceiling of a chapel at Loc Envel,
the white sand of Magheraroarty,
how each time we meet our bodies tell us
what your mind can't hear.
