Today's poem is by Susan Stewart

3/15
      after Campion

Wake up sprung
voice sunk
in mud, mute
sleep deep
as lead,
tossed and turned
and pollen-downed,
winds subdued
by ssshhing . . .

If you hear an
echo cleared
by some cloud in
passing, all the
nuance left
in fears
loosens,
never-lasting.

Life in tatters,
frittered life,
gray can picture
greening, slumber-
smothered, single
file, tadpoles,
peeps endearing.
