Today's poem is by CE Perry

Give the doe that extra
glance of the road, a safer
path through the ice.

Give me back your face,
tearless and illuminated
as it was that January night

in my car. Give us our lives
before we learned that sedimentary
rock is formed from hair

and fur: fragments pulled
from their homes, then
deposited elsewhere forever.
