Idolum Naturae Magnum: A Meditation
—From Gorman's Philosophy of Animated Existence

In space rich—Beautiful for its worlds—the immensity
of Matter hinges

without reasons. We decompose
to be present, take for the Whole

the great Mutation, vast and frightful solitude
as our better fortune. Living empire, coeval

to our ecliptic course, witness duration
in the Doctrine of Lost species; breathe

as we are Breathed, without decay
or diminution; Unburn

the visible horizon, Invisible universe—distance between
ever be infinite.
