Guy Goffette is the author of six books of poems. The most recent, Un manteau de /ortune, published by Gallimard in 2001, received that year's Grand Prix de Poesie of the Academic Francaise. He is from the Ardennes (b. 1946), but now lives in Paris where he is an editor at Gallimard. Poems of his, in Marilyn Hacker's translation, have appeared in numerous journals. And a collection entitled Charlestown Blues has just been published by the University of Chicago Press.

Marilyn Hacker is the author of more than ten books of poetry, including Essays on Departure: New and Selected Poems 1980-2005 and Desesperanto: Poems 1999-2002. She is also a distinguished translator from the French, whose poetry titles include Birds and Bison by Claire Malroux (Sheep Meadow, 2004) and Here There Was Once a Country by Venus Khoury-Ghata (Oberlin, 2001). Her translations of Guy Goffette's poems, Charlestown Blues, was published in 2007 by the University of Chicago Press. She received the National Poetry Series Robert Fagles Translation Prize (2007) for her translations of the work of French poet Marie Etienne, King of a Hundred Horsemen (FSG, 2008).
