Today's poem is "Fire"

from Crazyhorse

Edip Caserver, 1928-1986, was a leading member of a group of poets called the Second New, which came to prominence in Turkey in the fifties and sixties. Cansever inherited his father's shop in the Covered Bazaar in Istanbul, where he sold antiques.

Richard Tillinghast is the author of seven books of poetry and two collections of essays. Three new books are scheduled for publication in 2008: The New Life, poems from Copper Beech; Finding Ireland, essays from the University of Notre Dame Press; and Dirty August, translations of the Turkish poet Edip Cansever in collaboration with Julia Clare Tillinghast, to be published by Talisman Press. A native Tennessean, Tillinghast now lives in Ireland.
