Mary Jo Bang 's latest book of poetry, Elegy (Graywolf Press, 2007), reviewed in this issue, was awarded the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry. Her first book of poetry, Apology for Want (Middlebury, 1997), won the 1996 Bakeless Poetry Prize and the 1998 Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. She has received a Pushcart Prize, a Hodder Fellowship from Princeton University, and a grant from the Guggenheim Foundation. Her sixth collection, The Bride of E, is forthcoming from Graywolf Press in fall of 2009. She teaches at Washington University, in St. Louis, Mo.
