Today's poem is by Jen Tynes

The Recollection of Some Object Formed From It

Watched the cat sleeping

on your chest tossed across
the sunporch. The shooting of

a dog bred with a taste for
dark chickens fumbling

in the chilly side yard.
Where we came from grew

first out of being tightly
tied. I am so hard

for the extended family.
Choose not to make their feet

out of the body's timber,
instead use wires

from the junk drawer, twist

ties from the morning
mail, the siren

in my automobile.
