Today's poem is by Anne Blonstein

Gedächtnisgefängnis

        he was born thinking omens.
analyzing social learning and habits
with antibodily thoroughness
his mind's high-affinity receptors bind doubt.

        talk homes us. mothers absent
in sharing and in life. (fathers alive in shadows
and symbols.) his erudition hones my amorphous
notes. his spiked memory pokes among scented
hopes. a magus among the mannerists he ties
holes in meaning.

i'm attracted to souls that can leak. his
methylates my answers, transcription hesitates.
i want to insert or mutate, replace abstractions
with salt. locks with limpets.
