Lisa Russ Spaar's new books are Vanitas, Rough (Persea, 2012) and a collection of essays, The Hide-and-Seek Muse: Annotations of Contemporary Poetry (Drunken Boat, 2013). Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rona Jaffe Award, and the Carole Weinstein Poetry Prize from the Library of Virginia. Her commentaries, essays, reviews, and columns about poetry have appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Boston Review, and elsewhere. She is a professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Virginia.
