"Valentine"
from New Letters
Joseph Millar
's first collection, Overtime (Carnegie Mellon), was
a finalist for the 2001 Oregon Book Award. His second collection,
Fortune (Eastern Washington U P), appeared in 2007, followed by a
third, Blue Rust (Carnegie Mellon), in 2012. He has been awarded
fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation
and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is a permanent faculty
member in Pacific University's Low Residency M.F.A. Program and
lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, the poet Dorianne
Laux.
