Michael Hettich was born in New York City and raised in its suburbs. He earned a PhD in literature form the University of Miami and an MA in creative writing and poetry from the University of Denver. His work appears widely in journals and anthologies, and he has published six books of poetry including "Flock and Shadow" (New Rivers Press, 2005). He teaches English and creative writing at Miami Dade College.
